Cannabis for Menopause: Soothing Symptoms

Some women have begun using cannabis to relieve menopause symptoms. Thanks to its many potential benefits, cannabis makes it easier for women having to deal with this point in their life. That said, cannabis is still regulated, so it is still not as popular as it could be.

Study Results

The North American Menopause Society ran a study to see how many women prefer to use cannabis in order to manage their menopause symptoms. They found that 27 percent of women have either used it in the past. These women could also be currently using it to manage their symptoms. This is higher than the 19 percent that reported using more traditional methods, like hormone therapy, to handle the symptoms.

Additionally, the report has shown that another 10 percent have expressed interest in trying cannabis for the same reason.

Issues

There are some potential adverse consequences of using cannabis. For example, the CDC reported that users could develop feelings of paranoia and panic. This could, obviously, make people reconsider using it for the chronic symptoms of menopause.

On top of that, the federal still heavily regulates many cannabis products, if they’re available at all. As such, there are multiple rules that potential customers have to follow before they can use them.

Contradictions

To countermand the previously mentioned reports, Dr. Michelle Sexton has stated that occurrence of adverse reactions depend on the potency of the cannabis strain. Someone could, for example, use less potent products to handle their symptoms. In which case, they could potentially get relief from the symptoms without having the adverse reactions.

Make A Choice

As more people are interested in using cannabis for menopause symptoms, the debate over its use increases. Some have claimed that it will cause more harm than good, whereas others have stated that this depends on the specific strain. It is certainly true that the type of strain that a person prefers to use will offer different benefits and potencies.
